Fire up the photocopiers!
SCOTUS has decided Oracle v Google in Google's favor, per politico on twitter dot com
@djsundog so wait this is the good direction, right? APIs not copyrightable? But I'm trying to recall because I hate them both
@platypus correct - I'm no lawyer but I believe we needed this one (and afaict they found APIs are copyrightable, but that implementing a compatible API is a fair use) but again, my legal advice is worth less than nothing.
@djsundog @platypus Both results are horrible. Goog winning says software copyrights mean nothing, any evil corp can rip off as much as they want. Facebook, Microsoft, Google stomping on developer's faces, forever.
Oracle winning meant the end of retro ports without permission, but would protect current developers.
I guess the only thing to do now is rip off every program FAANG has ever made. Algorithm? No, *OUR* gorithm.
