ahhh yes, it is once again Sunday morning in Sundogistan and that means

This week, I'll be spending some quality time with Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers in their various incarnations and configurations, including some new music from the crew!

So, if some fresh old jazz might make your day, feel free to follow along over on @nowplaying

Starting things off with the new release from Art and crew, 2020's "Just Coolin'", a previously unreleased studio recording from 1959, recorded in Rudy Van Gelder's Hackensack NJ studio, with Lee Morgan on trumpet, Hank Mobley on tenor sax, my man Bobby Timmons on piano, Jymie Merritt on bass, and Art on drums.

The album includes two previously unissued compositions, "Jimerick" (composer unknown) and "Quick Trick", composed by Timmons.
