your books, you do give them away, right?

give people you care about books you care about, as often as you can.

@jerry totally - it's the same beef I have with music streaming services: as much as I love having access to such a large collection, it's value is massively diminished by not being able to share parts of it with others without a third party's permission.

@djsundog @jerry that's something I think is really cool about running an airsonic server, I can share playlists. like if you wanted to listen to the sonic R ost:

bam! there it is! unfortunately share links use flash player at the moment :(

@djsundog @jerry It's a strong upside to DRM-free, voluntary-payment eBooks. Or even involuntary payment DRM-free eBooks, since then you can just delete your copy.

@freakazoid @djsundog yeah. Almost all of my books are from Safari, which is even worse.

@jerry @djsundog I have an absolute "no DRM" policy these days. I buy paper books sometimes, but otherwise if there's no DRM-free version I just pirate it.

@freakazoid @jerry piracy for principle is the most delicious piracy around - keep up the good work ;)

@djsundog @jerry yup, why pay for less? It makes no sense to me. You also have access to a large collection of records at the record store, and CDs are cheap and you can rip them and retain the CD indefinitely.

Also playing music on my phone is simply not an option in a lot of places for technical reasons or because we don’t want to hear the inevitable ads or phone ringing or other phone interiptions.

Records are good! Also CDs! Fuck it, casette tapes are superior to DRMed mp3s.
