DJ Sundog - from the toot-lab @djsundog

I couldn't help myself - I had to have one. Was probably the best $50 I've spent today.

@djsundog Mm, that looks like a mighty fine keyboard.

@aschmitz nobody will ever need more than two F([1-2]{1}) keys

@djsundog wow! never heard of these but i really like this form factor

@xyzzy it was a failed push into the edu market, and yeah, the form factor is :1000:

@MutoShack @djsundog Even comes with a genuine Alps trackpad butter-tray. ;)

who wrote the Windows CE masto client? was it @calvin?

@djsundog @calvin Yeah, although it needs much newer CE than that, and it's currently PocketPC specifically.

@TheGibson @bhtooefr @calvin only seems fair, i used to post to my deadjournal from an ipaq

@bhtooefr @djsundog requires CE 5, but wouldn't be much to port to the HPC form factor OR to Pocket PC 2003 (but that makes TLS crumbly) - anything old has too old of a CLR to be worth it

@bhtooefr @calvin yeah, think it's 2.11ish (I have stepped away to try and find a power supply since I have no idea what kind of charge the battery is holding)

@djsundog that handle! <3

and how the windows key doesn't have a logo on it

@technomancy Pre-Brand-Aware (I should map the "win" key to a full-screen "you won!" app)

Windows CE with built-in Ethernet and a floppy drive is the ultimate in luxury

which is why you don't use Windows CE

@djsundog

yooooo, my dad used to have one of those

@kaniini it's the most beautiful juxtaposition of features and functions that I've ever held - your dad was an underappreciated visionary

@kaniini like, this is performance art in the shape of a laptop

@djsundog tired: take a chance on me
wired: take a RISC on me

@djsundog wow i can't find any youtube videos about it :O i wanted to see around all sides of it but can only find photos

@bunnyhero I'll knock together a lil video of it tomorrow morning :)

@djsundog thanks! no rush obviously 😛 i'm just curious and there's not much of anything out there on it!

@bunnyhero yeah, it's definitely a fringe device despite them selling a bunch of them, but as soon as I first saw one I knew I needed it in my life - this is the cybredeck that could have been, just waiting to be evoked from the crufty clutches of windows ce ;)

The DreamWriter IT is not on this table but the hardware is similar enough that I bet I can get running on it (of course)

wiki.netbsd.org/ports/hpcsh/hp

@starbreaker it's a Dreamwriter IT, and it's looking like a good possibility - it runs on the same basic hardware as the HP Jornada so I can probably get it to work

@djsundog @starbreaker jeez that looks like something you'd find from a Berman-era Star Trek set
